Triangles and the number three. Number patterns are another prominent element of symbolism in designs from Siwa and many other indigenous adornments of the region.
The number three is deeply symbolic of the birth-life-death cycle and of course, three sides make a triangle - one of the most widely used shapes throughout Siwan art and embroidery with many different meanings, depending on the particular design and application.
Another common feature in adornments and arts of the region is tassels, bells and a myriad of moving parts. The swaying movements and sounds produced by these bells and moving part are all intended as mechanisms to deter and distract the evil eye.
Our Hageb earrings, with their angular shapes, and swaying parts can be seen as protective talismans along with our signature green and orange colour palette, another symbol of the cycle of life-giving date palms and olive trees.. all set the set in threes.
